Friday April 23, 2021

New York City entices the best of the best, whether it's fashion or theater.

Michael Kors debuted his 40th-anniversary collection (fall/winter 2021) in the heart of Broadway, bringing to life the buzz and excitement that makes a night at the theater in New York special.

The event supported The Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment,

To kick off the immersive experience, Kors introduced the show live from New York's Times Square on Tuesday morning. His appearance was followed by a playful segment, directed by Erich Bergen and written by Erich and Adam Kulbersh, featuring a dazzling array of Broadway stars sharing their love for Broadway and urging support for The Actors Fund.

The broadcast continued with a runway show, produced by Bureau Betak, recorded at iconic theater-district spots, including Sardi's Restaurant, the Shubert Theatre, the Booth Theatre, and 45th Street. A special musical performance by award-winning singer and songwriter Rufus Wainwright set the tone.

The runway film, directed by longtime Michael Kors collaborator Alexandre de Betak and produced by Bureau Future, shined a light on the unique glamour and energy of Broadway, one of New York City's most beloved industries and among the hardest hit by the pandemic.

The vitality of the performing arts and Broadway is a cause near and dear to Kors, a lifelong New Yorker and theater enthusiast. To mark the occasion, the Michael Kors company made a donation to The Actors Fund, a national human services organization that fosters stability and resiliency, and provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals over their lifespan. Kors himself made a personal donation to The Fund, as well.

"I saw my first Broadway show when I was 5-years-old, and my love and appreciation for theater and entertainment industry has never faltered," says Michael Kors.

"To lose yourself in a piece of theater is one of the best ways to experience faraway places, meet new people, and explore different times, he continues. "Theater is's transport, and an endless source of inspiration. I feel fortunate to use my 40th anniversary to celebrate and support an industry that is in dire straits—and that has brought so much joy and inspiration to the world."

Joseph Benincasa, President and CEO of The Actors Fund, added: "We are so grateful to Michael Kors and The Michael Kors Company for their outstanding support of the performing arts and entertainment community. We're honored to be included in Michael's 40th Anniversary Collection celebration and will put their generous donations to use right away to help those in need with direct financial assistance, health insurance enrollment and health care, mental health resources, affordable housing, and more."
