Tech billionaire and Republican megadonor Peter Thiel has reportedly told associates that he plans to stay out of the 2024 election by not donating to any political party.

Per a Reuters report, "two people close to the businessman" are spilling the beans that the early backer of former President Donald Trump plans to sit this presidential election out.

Why? Well, he is reportedly unhappy with the Republican Party's focus on cultural issues such as abortion restrictions and anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ legislation.

You and everyone else, Thiel!

"Thiel came to this conclusion by late 2022, the sources said," Reuters reports. "He believes Republicans are making a mistake in focusing on cultural flashpoints and should be more concerned with spurring U.S. innovation - a major issue for him - and competing with China, the business associate said."

We hate to say it, but that makes a whole lot of sense.

When Thiel spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention, he seemed to hope that his party would concentrate on economic issues.

"I am proud to be gay," Thiel said on stage. "But most of all I am proud to be an American. I don't pretend to agree with every plank in our party's platform, but fake culture wars only distract us from our economic decline, and nobody in this race is being honest about it except Donald Trump."

According to sources informing Reuters, Thiel plans to take a step back from U.S. politics.
