Transgender actress and star of HBO's "Euphoria" Hunter Schafer is set to share the screen with Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway in David Lowery's film "Mother Mary," coming from hit factory A24.

Deadline described the film as "an epic pop melodrama following a fictional musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer (Coel)."

"Sources tell Deadline that Schafer will play Hilda, the assistant of Coel's designer, Sam," Deadline added.

Noting that "Euphoria" is also produced by A24, the outlet detailed that Schafer "plays Jules – the love interest of Zendaya's teenage drug addict, Rue," and that Schafer "has in addition to her performance, drawn praise for her work co-writing the special episode 'F**k Anyone Who's Not a Sea Blob,' aired amidst COVID's continuing impact in January 2021."

Schafer is a highly successful model, having worked with major labels like Marc Jacobs, Prada, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, Vera Wang, and many others.

With a third season of the edgy hit drama about a group of teenagers dealing with sex, love, and trauma having been green lit, Schafer has extended her acting into film, scoring not just the "Mother Mary" role but also appearing in the upcoming "Hunger Games" prequel, "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes."

In another cinematic outing, Schafer "will be starring opposite Dan Stevens [and] Jessica Henwick in the forthcoming thriller 'Cuckoo,'" ET Online reported.

In addition to her acting and modeling career, Schafer is an active LGBTQ+ equality advocate. As previously reported, Schafer joined a lawsuit against North Carolina over that state's ill-fated "bathroom bill" in 2017 – the same year that Teen Vogue dubbed her part of its "21 Under 21" list.
