Watch: Adam Lambert 'Flattered' Over This Lil Nas X Comment

Out artist Adam Lambert is getting his flowers from fellow out artist Lil Nas X.

As reported by People, Lambert was making a very special appearance on "Watch What Happens Live" alongside the "Padam" princess Kylie Minogue when the topic turned to pop music and them both being pop divas.

Taking questions from the audience, Lambert was asked how did it feel to have Nas X thank him for opening doors for other LGBTQ artists. About which Lambert responded by saying he was "flattered."

"That was very flattering that he even knows who I am," said Lambert. "I think he's such a rock star, and so bold and brave, and I love what he's doing."

As host Andy Cohen pointed out, the comment acknowledged how much blowback Lambert had to suffer through for expressing his sexuality.

Specifically, Lambert's performance of his debut single "For Your Entertainment" at the 2009 American Music Awards sparked controversy after he kissed a male band member on stage. Following the performance, the Parents Television Council issued complaints, and ABC canceled Lambert's scheduled "Good Morning America" performance as a result.

"To see him be able to get on stage and have backing from the industry, and have racy, fabulous, edgy performances and finally getting to do that without being canceled or pulled off of a network, it was like, 'OK, this is great. We've come into a new chapter," said Lambert about Nas X.

In a 2021 interview with Billboard, Nas X said that Lambert is "definitely like the gay pop star that is 2021." He added, "he's bold, he's controversial, he's pushing boundaries. That's what we want our pop stars to do. It's just taken this long to have it be a gay one."

It's a love fest all around between the two pop stars. See Lambert discuss the moment below.
